One inch dowel about 15" tall or a well shaped branch.
One piece of thin plywood for base
Several bunches of German Statice
Large piece of styrofoam
Quik Grab glue
2-3 shades of  green floral spray paint
Large plastic trash bag
Can of spray adhesive
Bottle of brown, gray acrylic paint
Bag of Scenic Woodland Turf
Hand drill with small bit (optional)
Sawdust
Woodland turf, bark, or coffee grounds for ground cover on base
Start with a one inch dowel or a well shaped branch for your trunk. Drill a hole into the bottom of the dowel or trunk and add a wooden disk made of plywood large enough to balance your armature. Insert a wood screw from the bottom to create a solid base. Drill holes in various positions on your trunk. Apply Quik Grab glue and insert branches of statice creating a pleasing appearance. Fill a plastic trash bag with shredded styrofoam ( I shredded the styrofoam in an old blender),woodland turf and sawdust.
Take your tree, and liberally spray with Spray adhesive. Turn your tree upside down, insert the tree, grab the bag tightly  and shake it while singing your happy dance!
Repeat as often as needed to get the appearance you like.. When completely dry, spray the foliage with various colors of green floral spray.
If you used a branch, no finish is needed. If you used a dowel, apply Quik Grab on the dowel and allow it to dry to create a bark-like texture. Then paint in various shades of black, brown and green acrylic paints.to replicate a bark-like texture.  Apply your ground cover to the base.
